Lexus RX vs Cadillac XT5 Metro Detroit

Lexus RX Performance Utica MIREFINED V6 PERFORMANCE

The RX 350 is powered by an advanced V6 that offers an additional 60 peak horsepower over the four cylinder engine in the XT5 and does it using Regular unleaded fuel. Yet, it has similar EPA-estimated combined fuel economy ratings, in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Smooth and sophisticated, the V6 offers a more refined feel than the Cadillac’s inline 4-cylinder.

IIHS 2020 Awards Detroit MI

ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE

The RX 350 comes with Lexus Safety System+ 2.01 as standard equipment, including Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Road Sign Assist (RSA) and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Cadillac offers most of these features but does not offer Road Sign Assist, and their Adaptive Cruise Control system requires the purchase of additional packages.

Organizations dedicated to consumers’ safety see the value and importance of these systems. The 2021 Lexus RX was named “Top Safety Pick2” by IIHS Top Safety Picks for 2021. The Cadillac XT5 did not earn this same honor.

Lexus RX Interior Room Utica MIMAXIMUM COMFORT AND CONNECTIVITY

The RX 350 offers a roomy, accommodating interior for five. Front-seat passengers have an added 1.5 inches of front headroom in the RX and rear-seat passengers enjoy a substantial 2.5 inches of added headroom. In front, there’s more room to stretch out, with 2.9 inches of added legroom.

When on the road, why be out of touch? Everyone can stay charged-up and engaged in the RX 350, with a total of six standard USB ports. The XT5 has just four USB ports.

2021 JD Power Dependability Study Metro Detroit MI

LEXUS RANKS HIGHEST IN VEHICLE DEPENDABILITY

The J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), ranks Lexus the highest in overall vehicle dependability among all brands with a score of 81 PP100.3 This is the ninth time in 10 years that Lexus has received this honor!

The study measures the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of three-year-old vehicles. The study looks for 177 specific problems and a lower score reflects higher dependability. In this year’s study, Cadillac was given a score of 100 PP100, which means 19 additional problems were reported by Cadillac owners compared to Lexus.

WINNER – LEXUS RX

Since pioneering the luxury SUV segment more than 20 years ago, the iconic, best-selling Lexus RX continues to delight owners with expressive craftsmanship, advanced driver-inspired technology and uncompromising versatility. With an ideal blend of tailored exterior dimensions and welcoming interior space in both five and seven passenger versions, the RX offers an ideal combination of utility and luxury, and is the clear choice for your luxury SUV.

1Drivers are responsible for their own safe driving. Always pay attention to your surroundings and drive safely. System effectiveness is dependent on many factors including road, weather and vehicle conditions. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.
2To qualify for 2021 TOP SAFETY PICK, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It also must earn an advanced or superior rating for available front crash prevention — vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. Finally acceptable or good headlights must be available.
