Meade Lexus of Lakeside is excited to announce the arrival of the 2015 Lexus RC in Detroit Michigan! Contact your Detroit Michigan Lexus dealers today to schedule a test drive, or FILL OUT THE BELOW FORM today for more information.

The RC is part of a ride and handling revolution that started with the GS and IS.  While the platform of the RC is based off of the Lexus GS, it differs in all dimensions from the GS and IS in terms of lines.  The widest and lowest application yet has been integrated into the Lexus spindle grill.  The wheel base has also been widened 1.2 inches, lowered 1.4 inches and shortened 2.8 inches when compared to the Lexus IS.  This exterior design has emphasized the attraction of a luxury two-door sedan.

When it came time to create the interior, Lexus looked to sports concept vehicles for influence.  Their design utilizes the maximum use of contrasting colors, materials and lighting.  For example, a Lexus-first lighting package that illuminates upward instead of down to envelope the cabin.  Genuine shimamoku wood highlights create an intense and layered wood technique to emphasize surrounding trim.  The cockpit has also been divided into two zones–operational and display.  The upper zone consists of the driver’s instrument panel and seven-inch navigation screen, while the center console houses Lexus’ new remote touch interface.  Let’s not forget to mention the feel of being behind the wheel of a race car when you slip into the seats that were constructed with an integrated foaming system to ensure comfort and support.

The engine of the RC is a dual injection 3.5-L V6 gas engine that has a maximum power of 314 hp at 6,400 rpm and a peak torque of 280 lb-ft at 4,800 rpm.  The eight-speed sport direct shift with paddle shift transmission was adapted from the IS F performance sedan, which optimizes power delivery and fuel economy.  The RC will be offered in both RWD and AWD, but availability may vary by market.

The technology features, such as the spot monitor and new remote touch interface, have been updated.  The blind spot monitor system has also been updated and now will be able to detect vehicles approaching from behind at greater speed and from a greater distance than is covered by the current system.

The talk surrounding the RC was kicked into high gear when the RC F performance coupe was revealed here at the Detroit Auto Show this past January.

Lexus has put its most powerful V8 engine in the RC F coupe.  The power comes from more than 450 horsepower and more than 383 lb.-ft. torque.  To power this type of engine efficiently, a Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) is used to ensure remarkable handling and performance.  TVD has three different operating modes:

-Standard for a balance of nimble performance and stability.

-Slalom for emphasis on nimble steering response.

-Track to help with consistent stability as the driver applies more throttle.

The mechanical grip on the RC is possible because of the highly rigid body with large cross-section rocker panels and a very stiff front lower brace.  Other techniques used include body adhesives, laser-screw welding, laser brazing, and multi-spot welding–all of which are Lexus-specialized manufacturing techniques. Wider tire and wheel assembly enhance the grip of 19-inch diameter forged aluminum wheels.

Just looking at the Lexus RC F, you can see that this model was made for the sporty driver.  The Lexus signature spindle grille, which dominates the front of the vehicle from hood line to lower lip, has a subtle F-mesh pattern on the lower half.  The hood raises the peak of the vehicle and creates a powerful side view.  To keep the engine cool and the vehicle stable, hood air vents are combined with front cooling ducts.  These design cues come from the Lexus LFA supercar.  Yet another feature adapted from the LFA is an active rear spoiler that is incorporated into the trunk lids and provides down force to the vehicle when speeds reach more than 50 mph.  This spoiler is the star of the aerodynamic package, which also includes: careful tuning of the underbody, the intakes in the grille and the front fender vents, and strategic placement of the aero stabilizing fins.

As far as we can see, whether you choose the RC or RC F (both coming to your Detroit Lexus dealer soon), you will be part of a changing look of luxury.  Contact us using the below form to reserve a spot at our Metro Detroit launch party (date to be announced soon).
